  SEASON 2 - 1998 Season 2 of Doctor Who would’ve starred Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor & Daphne Ashbrook as Grace Holloway in their second season. It would also see Philip Segal as showrunner, with Matthew Jacobs as head writer. Despite not being the massive global success the higher ups were initially hoping for, FOX were overall happy enough with ratings of Season 1 & so a second season was quickly greenlit. Early into production, a rumour started floating around the fanbase that Ashbrook was considering leaving the program, which was later confirmed to be true a few months later. By this point, Roseanne , the TV Movie’s main rival in our history, had concluded its eighth season the following week, which gave Doctor Who the opportunity to make a better impression on Ame rican audiences. In this new version of history, with the altered air date, the viewing figures were able to meet the minimum requirement for FOX to commission a full season of Doctor Who .
